OutfitScan Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 28, 2026
OutfitScan is an iOS app that lets you identify clothing visible in Instagram reels you choose to share with it. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why, and how it is handled.
Anonymous device identifier
OutfitScan does not require an account, email address, name, or password. The first time you open the app, your device automatically provisions an anonymous identifier consisting of a randomly-generated string. This identifier is stored in the iOS keychain on your device and is used to scope your reel history to your install. We never receive your Apple ID or any personal identifier.
If you delete and reinstall the app, a new anonymous identifier is generated and your previous history is no longer visible.
Reel content you share
When you share a reel to OutfitScan from Instagram (or paste a reel URL inside the app), the app sends the following to our backend:
- The Instagram URL of the reel
- For shares originating from your Photos library, the video bytes themselves (uploaded once to a temporary cloud bucket, processed, and deleted)
We do not store the original reel video after processing. We do store the analysis result — the identified clothing items (brand, color, category, name, product URL, and a thumbnail) and sampled frames from the reel — so the result is visible in your in-app history. This data is associated only with your anonymous device identifier.
Analytics
OutfitScan uses GameAnalytics to measure aggregate product metrics — for example, how many users return after their first use, and how many reels are processed per user. The data sent includes the same anonymous device identifier described above and high-level event names (e.g. reel submitted, product opened). It does not include the reel URL, the reel video, your photos, your location, or any personal information.
This data is used only to improve OutfitScan. It is not used for advertising, not shared with data brokers, and not linked to data from other apps or websites.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of third-party service providers to host our backend, run computer-vision analysis on the frames we sample from the reel, and search the public web for matching product pages and images. These providers process data on our behalf under standard data-processing agreements and receive only what is necessary for the analysis. They are not given your device identifier and they do not retain reel content beyond the processing window.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email, phone number, contacts, or address book
- Your location
- Browsing history outside of reels you explicitly share with us
- Anything from other apps on your device
- Crash reports, analytics, or behavioural telemetry
Your rights
Because we do not have an account system, deleting OutfitScan from your device permanently removes our ability to associate any remaining server-side history with you. To request deletion of all server-side data tied to your device identifier before uninstalling, email petarisakoviccanada@gmail.com with the device identifier shown in the app's Settings screen.
Children
OutfitScan is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify users via the app on next launch.
